About Kentucky propane prices
Kentucky's propane customers are mostly rural: the eastern coalfield counties, the Pennyrile and the farm country west of Louisville, all places where natural gas distribution stops well short of the property line. Poultry houses add a farm load on top of home heating. Supply reaches the state by pipeline from the Gulf Coast and by truck out of regional terminals.
The figure above is EIA's weekly survey average for Kentucky, collected from retail dealers during the October to March heating season and published Wednesday afternoons. No survey runs in the warm months, so the last spring reading stands until the fall. EIA surveyed a wholesale (rack) price for Kentucky until Jan 6, 2025, and the chart keeps that line's history; since then the state's wholesale cell has been empty, so the current rack read is the Midwest price page.
